The Israel Defense Forces yesterday designated Bil'in and Na'alin as closed military areas
every Friday until mid-August, in a bid to halt the weekly demonstrations against the
separation fence in those West Bank villages. ---- On Sunday night dozens of troops, some
wearing masks, entered the villages and plastered storefronts and home windows with
notices announcing the closure order signed by the GOC Central Command, Maj. Gen. Avi
Mizrahi. ---- The order officially runs from February 18 to August 17. The 12-hour closure
will apply to the area stretching from the separation fence to the edge of the villages'
built-up areas. ---- Weekly demonstrations against the fence have been held in Bil'in for
the past five years. Over the last three years the villages of Na'alin and Al-Ma'sara have

The horrific death toll from the earthquake in Haiti briefly focused the world’s attention
on the plight of the Haitian people. The earthquake was a natural disaster coming on top
of decades of human disasters imposed upon the people as its economy has been forced to
transform to suit the needs of transnational corporations. This is the reason so many
people were packed into substandard accommodation in Port-au-prince. ---- Those who want
to turn all of Haiti into one vast low wage sweatshop have used the earthquake to advance
their agenda. On the day it occurred, the US Heritage Foundation issued a statement
arguing that "the U.S. response to the tragic earthquake in Haiti earthquake offers
opportunities to re-shape Haiti’s long-dysfunctional government and economy."

Partnership! Well, labor and capital may be partners in theory, but they are enemies in
fact. – JOHN L. LEWIS; President, United Mine Workers of America; 1936 ---- If you
contract out, union-bust, or otherwise make it impossible for workers and students to have

What game are the trade union leaders playing? ---- Since the middle of January civil and
public servants have engaged in a work-to-rule in an attempt to force a reversal of the
pay cuts announced by the government in the December budget. Across the country workers in
government offices, colleges, schools, hospitals etc. are taking action, which they hope
will result in a change of government policy. ---- Up to 300,000 public service workers
have had their pay cut by up an average of 16% (‘pension levy’ + income levy + pay cut) in
just over 12 months and they are rightly angry. They know that the wealthy that caused the
financial crisis are getting off scot-free and that government policy is all about making
ordinary workers shoulder the cost of the bank bailout, NAMA etc.

This weekend the Israeli anarchists against the wall initiative were involved in even more
struggles in more locations that become regular fronts: Beit Jalla, Bait Omar, Bil'in, Jeb
Altheeb, Ma'asara, Nabi Saleh, Ni'ilin, Sheikh Jarrah. The state forces continued half
heartedly to prevent the access of demonstrators to come to Bil'in and Ni'ilin but failed.
Many activists continued from the noon demonstrations to the one at Sheikh Jarrah. Last
night (Monday early morning) at 02:00 AM, state forces entered the village. Many copies of
a document was posted around the whole village. This document declared that Israeli and
international activists were strictly prohibited from entering Bil'in between the hours of
8 am and 8 pm on every Friday, the day in which the weekly demonstration takes place.

A special report from the February 2010 issue of the monthly libertarian Alternative: One
year after the Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip and its 1,400 victims, the
situation of the Palestinian population is dramatic. While a UN report confirms that the
IDF has engaged in war crimes in January 2009, Israeli leaders are not low profile.
Netanyahu continued to refuse a freeze on settlements, Barack Obama gives a free hand to
the Zionist state, and the prospect of another war, even a reoccupation of Gaza are not
excluded. Solidarity needed. At the invitation of Palestinian society, the anti-colonial
world are mobilized in the campaign Boycott Divestment and Sanction (BDS).

It is of little doubt that the total failure of any attempts to oppose the Second Chechen
War was the most bitter defeat of the Russian anarchist movement during the past decade. A
feeling of total powerlesness in front of the brutal realities of the Chechenyan
meat-grinder was pressing so heavily on the imagination of anti-authoritarians during the
first half of the decade, that the movement was onlyable to recovere slightly when the
intensity of the war gradually calmed down. ---- One may say, that the Second Chechen war
started the 26th of August 1999, when the air force of the Russian Federation bombed
Grozny and other parts of Ichkeria, and ended the 31st of October 2007, when
pro-separatist websites published the announcement of Dokku Umarov, that the Ichkerian
Republic had been dissolved and replaced by the Caucasus Emirate. Of course, the war still

On April , the 17, 2010 in Kiev will be held the second international tournament of mixed
martial arts among the anti-fascists of Europe "No surrender!! II." The tournament is
intended to continue the tradition of learning and use of fighting arts not only in the
ring or mat, but also in real life situations. Invited to apply are all the caring people
who refuse to be reconciled with the dominance of the Nazi terror in the streets of their
own cities. --- By participating, you could get experience and teach your opponent not to
be afraid of difficulties! ---- Fighting fascism are not only words but also fights in the
streets, which dictate its conditions to win. There is no place for weakness and sorrow
there. Compassion not only to the enemy but also to themselves. We should work on our

Celebrating cultures of resistance ---- Edinburgh AFed are curating a one-day free film
festival on Saturday 20th March at the Banshee Labyrinth on Niddrie Street (formerly
Nicholl Edwards). Celebrating “cultures of resistance” across the world, the diverse films
share the theme of collective action against political or economic injustice. A conscious
shift away from the documentary-heavy format of most activist film festivals sees the
screening of new and old class-conscious classics. ---- They include John Sayles’ Matewan,
featuring the screen debut of indie singer Will Oldham as a teenage preacher in a mining
town standing together in the teeth of state and capitalist siege, and last year’s Army of
Crime, which makes Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds look like a cartoon. The Group

In monumental buildings in Vancouver, people gathered to bear witness to the strength of
the human body and the spectacle of the recent Olympic games. On the streets, thousands
gathered to mourn and protest to its current and future cost: the mountains and trees
removed to build lodges and ski trails on un-ceded indigenous territory; the eviction of
low-income people from homes designated for Olympics inspired renovation and demolition;
the homelessness beyond “Project Civil City,” an initiative that criminalized aggressive
panhandling and sleeping outdoors. ---- Beneath the surveillance cameras recently
installed on public streets, two Seattle residents, Michelle Woo and Stephen Clark, raised
their voices in protest. ---- When did you decide to go and why? ---- Michelle: We
decided a month or two before the Olympics, but I had been thinking about it for a long

Meanwhile, here in New York, hundreds of people rallied outside a Manhattan hotel Tuesday
to protest a fundraiser held by the group Friends of the Israel Defense Forces. The head
of the Israeli military, Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi, was a featured speaker. Israeli activist
Matan Cohen of the group Anarchists Against the Wall called for ending US aid to Israel.
Matan Cohen: “We’re protesting here today at a fundraiser dinner for the Israeli army.
We’re here to send a clear message to the Israeli government that its impunity has ended,
that the world is watching, and that we’ll no longer stand idle as its policies of
apartheid and occupation continue. We’re here to say clearly that the aid to Israel should
be stopped and that the United States should no longer fund Israel’s crimes. Enough is
enough.”
