Disturbances: Anticapitalism in Finland + Rembetiko Party

Capitalism and markets have always been fought back. Reforming and countering market mechanisms has brought about welfare and innovation for example in all Nordic countries, but inherent problems of capitalism have not disappeared.

Markets centralize wealth, force people into poverty and foster strife and competition between people. At the same time, markets help propel the greatest environmental catastrophe humanity has ever faced - planetary climate change.

Peace to Ukraine, free Russian political prisoners!

Vladimir Putin will visit Finland on friday 1th of July 2016. Conflict in Ukraine is still going on, in year 2016 only more than 600 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed and wounded in ceasefire violations. Both parts of the conflicts have been reluctant to fulfill their responsibilities under Minsk II treaty. Vladimir Putin admitted presence of Russian troops last December, and he is one of the persons directly involved in the continuation of the bloodshed, and bears personal responsibility for human rights violations in occupied Ukrainian territory.

Sat 26th of March Disturbances-lecture: The Arrival of Feminism at the Anarchist Movement - the Anarcho-Feminist Union 'Peppi' And Other Feminist Groups in the Activist Movement of the 1990s

Doors open at 4 pm, Lecture begins at 4:15 pm

The anarchist movement in Finland in the 1990s was largely organized by men. The Finnish Anarchist Union, FAU (Suomen anarkistiliitto, SAL), Kapinatyöläinen-magazine ("Rebel Worker"), solidarity demonstrations and panel discussions were dominated by men, and mostly men's voices were heard at anarchist meetings. Red anarchism in Helsinki, especially, leaned heavily on the traditions of the workers' movement which did include lofty speeches about women's rights but whose gender roles were, in practice, quite traditional.

In Kupoli, Mannerheimintie 7 b 7th floor.

On December 1st, there were demonstrations around Finland, in Helsinki the university main building was squatted on, and in Turku, the Porthania squat's record for the the longest-standing university squat in the history of Finland was beaten. For the first time in the history of the student movement in Finland, it would seem, multiple buildings were squatted on simultaneously in several cities.
