Ordinary business

Occupational injuries are something with which we encounter every day in their workplace.

Flies from the monitors in the office or earn curvature of the spine of a permanent stay on his feet in a store or coffee shop.

Breathe toxic vapors in the shops or frostbite, winter working on the street.

It's not even that some of the more dangerous, and some less. It is clear that the work on the milling machine is much more traumatic than keyboarding. Essence, rather, that even typing text on 8 hours a day and doing the mechanical robotic movements - tenosynovitis is provided to you.All this is a consequence of the common reasons: competition requires more and more productivity, which provides greater and greater specialization, ideally, an employee bringing the action to minimize the same type of template operations. Now count the number of such movements in the day, month, year and remember the adage "water wears away a stone."

How can we cope with such a logic of production, because specialization is really needed? There is at least two things:

First, the degree of specialization of production must determine people it employed. The work - part of our everyday life and as Bob Black wrote, "If you do boring, dull, monotonous work, most likely you yourself will become boring, dull and monotonous."

Decisions about what, who and how does the same to be taken by all employees, not bosses instead of them - otherwise, it is obvious who will get monotonous employment, and who will go play tennis.

Secondly, you need a regular change of activity within the enterprise. This process carries a lot of benefits: When all are capable of much more than individual operations, there remains irreplaceable, we get more knowledge and diversity, better understand the entire process in general and his colleagues in particular. In the end, it reduces our alienation from the end-product, because when we used to tighten a nut on the workpiece, it is now truly together produce something useful.

Unfortunately, even these measures can not be done, not to mention the changes to the other side of the coin - in industries deemed "hazardous".

Raspadskaya and death of workers on the Baikal Pulp and Paper Mill - examples, standing right before your eyes, not at random, not isolated, out of the ordinary, or what else.Rather, legitimate, everyday life and everyday arising directly from the logic of the market economy: the same competition, the desire to maximize their profits leads to a permanent reduction in the cost of security (and indeed on anything at all).In other words, who spends less than one in the first place to earn more, and secondly has a higher "margin" compared with competitors in the event of a price war.

Think about that the way out - to take strict laws on the compliance with safety or obligation to change the worn-out equipment - roughly the same as to believe that if we take the law prohibiting alcohol and drinking vodka, then all take and no longer. In both cases it is necessary to eliminate the causes that force to do so, rather than deal with their consequences. The logic is relentless - until production is based on profit rather than on meeting the needs until the process is controlled by people not directly involved in it, and the owners or bureaucrats - would be affected by this situation.

When you see posters announcing that all the troubles at work are caused by working somewhere they did not ask whether or not there clicked is not funny and not sad.Rather, there is anger and a desire to change everything. While this change is only posters, but in our power to make sure that the lack of capacity to global change will not last forever.

PS This Rosstat. Can you believe it / you can not, IMHO one thing is clear - they obviously do not overstate the real showTeli.
