September 3: Antifascist prisoner Bogdan Yakimenko turns 26. Write him a letter!

Antifascist Bogdan Yakimenko was arrested on June 5, 2024, in Rostov-on-Don in connection with the Antifa United case, which the authorities declared an extremist organization. Pro-government channels call Yakimenko its organizer.

Bogdan Yakimenko, had already faced persecution after he and Mikhail Ivanov were attacked by a group of neo-Nazis in 2020. The antifascists spent a year under house arrest, were later placed under a travel ban, and after their first conviction — which was later overturned — they spent eight months in pre-trial detention (SIZO). In 2023, Bogdan was sentenced to 4 years of forced labor. At the time of his new arrest, the sentence was under appeal and had not yet entered into force.

Bogdan never hid his beliefs and linked the attention from ”anti-extremist” police force Center “E” and the FSB directly to his antifascist activism. He did not want to leave Russia. Instead, he studied law, and dreamed of becoming a lawyer.

Write to this political prisoner with birthday greetings and words of support, or send a postcard! This will be an important source of encouragement for him and a sign of solidarity.
