Father Frost against Putin festival returns to Helsinki!
Submitted by Редакция on 4 November, 2026 - 14:05
On January 9, 2027, the Finnish capital will host the 12th edition of the "Father Frost against Putin" festival.
This time, all festival events will take place in Oranssi, Kaasutehtaankatu 1, rakennus 11. Program starts at noon and will continue until 10PM.
The history of our festival began 13 years ago, in 2014, with a simple idea: to create a safe space in Helsinki where activists could openly discuss Russia’s political and social issues, share their experiences, and connect with like-minded people.
With the onset of the war in Ukraine, the context has changed radically. Today, our festival serves as a vital gathering point for the entire Russian-speaking diaspora and those in Finland who stand in solidarity with them.
The festival is created by and for the "new wave" of Russian emigration. We welcome anti-authoritarian activists, feminists, anti-militarists, anti-fascists, human rights defenders, artists, and researchers.
Our venue is open to everyone forced to leave the Russian Federation, as well as to residents, migrants, and refugees who support civil society’s struggle against Putin’s authoritarian, oligarchic regime.
If you want to hasten the fall of the dictatorship, put an end to the war, and believe in the potential of a mass opposition movement—join us!
As for now, we may announce one speaker: Sasha Kazantseva, LGBTQ activist, sex educator, and blogger will present topic Sex, LGBT, Putin: Why Do Dictatorships Fight Queer People and Sex Education?
Full program will be published later.
Between the talks, a delicious vegan lunch will be available at a very affordable price.
An evening concert will feature Finnish performers.
