Fundraiser: 2200 euros for three months of legal work for Ruslan Sidiki

Anarchist Ruslan Sidiki remains in detention — and we continue to support him. Right now we need to raise 200,000 rubles to pay for his lawyer’s work for the next three months. When someone is held in a pre-trial detention center (SIZO), this is the most expensive period to provide support. At the same time, it’s also when there are more opportunities — for the defense, regular lawyer visits, and filing appeals.

Ruslan Sidiki, a citizen of Russia and Italy, has been sentenced to 29 years in prison. He was found guilty under “terrorism” charges and a number of other accusations for two acts of sabotage against Russia’s military logistics: an attempted drone attack on the Dyagilevo airfield and the sabotage of a railway line used to transport military cargo. Ruslan has emphasized that he targeted only military infrastructure, and that the railway tracks that were blown up were not used by passenger trains.

Ruslan’s lawyer is preparing additional materials for the appeal and will take part in the proceedings at the Military Court of Appeal. He regularly visits Ruslan at Ryazhsk SIZO, stays in contact with the Italian consulate, and continues efforts to hold accountable the security officers who tortured Ruslan after his detention. This work requires not only time, but also systematic, persistent pressure on the system — and it is already producing results.

At the end of August, the prosecutor’s office ruled that investigator Svetlana Surina’s refusal to open a criminal case regarding Ruslan’s torture was unlawful. The materials were sent for an additional review, and the lawyer’s demands were fully satisfied. This was the outcome of enormous work: dozens of complaints, months of correspondence, and constant pressure on oversight bodies. For the security services, this means one thing: every time they break the law, it does not go without consequences. They are summoned for questioning, denied bonuses, and violations are formally recorded. This kind of work reduces the risk of further torture and provides Ruslan with additional protection.

We recently closed the previous fundraiser and fully paid the lawyer’s fees through November 15. Now we need to secure the next period — so the appeal can be prepared as thoroughly as possible, every visit to Ruslan can be paid for, and the work on the torture case does not stop.

We are announcing a new fundraiser: 200,000 rubles (circa 2200 euros) for three months of legal work.
