Support ABC-Moscow to evacuate persecuted anarchists from Russia

This year, ABC-Moscow carried out three successful evacuations of anarchists facing criminal charges in Russia. Security forces wanted to send these activists to pre-trial detention centers, but instead they remain free — though forced into exile.

Every evacuation is difficult and expensive. It involves complex logistics: crossing borders, new phones and SIM cards, transport, housing, visa issues, and money for the first weeks. In just the past few months, this has cost about 3,000 euros. And more help is needed — we continue to receive requests from people under threat of prosecution.

Here is the story of one of the evacuated comrades:“

I was engaged in activist work, and because of this, FSB officers came to search my home. They took me to the police station and, after interrogations, placed me [informally] under house arrest — without providing any official documents. On my phone, they found correspondence with a clandestine organization, and I was accused of ‘training for terrorist activity.’

To avoid imprisonment, they offered me cooperation. I pretended to agree but did not betray anyone, while secretly preparing to flee the country.

I contacted ABC, and they instructed me on how to safely leave Russia. The escape was successful, but in the first country I reached there was still a risk of arrest at Russia’s request. ABC paid for my flight to a safer country, helped me find temporary housing, provided money, and are now assisting me in obtaining a humanitarian visa in an EU country.”

At the moment, we have no money left for evacuations. Our fund is completely depleted, and we have even accumulated a debt of more than 2,000 euros to our supporters. As a result, we cannot help new comrades who are reaching out for support. To continue evacuating people, we urgently need financial assistance.
