Disturbances-lectures:graffiti subculture and control

In Kupoli (Mannerheimintie 5 B, 7th floor).

Food served 4PM, on menu Saag Tofu.

Lecture starts 4:30 PM.

How is the graffiti subculture in Helsinki affected by control? Graffiti have been controlled in Helsinki through various politics, such as from unconditional zero tolerance during ”Stop töhryille” -project to present day, where the city allows graffiti and street art to be painted on authorized graffiti walls. The lecture is reflecting, through theories of critical and cultural criminology, to understand how subcultural practices are interacting with crime control in contemporary society. The speaker Malin Fransberg  is an anarchist and p.hd. student at university of Tampere.

Disturbances is an open series of lectures and discussions at the crossroads of society, philosophy, history, economy and resistance.
We are already aware that we can not live as before, but we do not know what the future holds. Others are stuck in the past, but we only want to understand it. Even a small disturbance of an initial condition can lead a system into a completely different state.

Our speakers are Finnish and international anti-authoritarian researchers and activists. Events are organized by AutOp, a student group of the University of Helsinki. Our program is created by the participants themselves, if you want to join or simply get in contact, write hairioita@riseup.net.

Children are welcome by default! We have now also a separate room from 4:30 to 7 PM in case children get tired of lecture.
