Fundraiser for legal defense of Ural punk musician Maxim Lunin, accused of attempted sabotage

We are now supporting another political prisoner — 20-year-old punk musician Maxim Lunin from the town of Verkhnyaya Salda in Sverdlovsk Oblast. There is now a fundraiser for 250 000 rubles to cover six months of work by a lawyer who will defend Lunin at the Central District Military Court in Yekaterinburg. This is a significant amount for supporters of political prisoners, so we very much hope for your help.
Lunin was detained and arrested in March 2025. We know that this happened immediately after he was discharged from a psychiatric hospital. According to law enforcement, he was preparing to attack an "infrastructure facility".Initially, he was charged with "attempted terrorism", but the charge was later reclassified as "attempted sabotage". Lunin also faces charges under two other articles — "participation in a terrorist organization" and "public calls for terrorism". The military court is hearing his case behind closed doors.
According to Lunin, he was tortured after his arrest. Maxim does not deny that he discussed preparations for an action with "unknown individuals" who offered him money, but emphasizes that he was primarily motivated by his anti-war views.
Among his relatives, only his grandmother is helping Maxim. We call on everyone to show solidarity and support him together. Maxim needs qualified legal assistance, which he has not received since his detention and arrest.
For several years, Maxim played in the punk band DASHA*, which he formed with friends, and was known in music circles as Max Plotsky. In Yekaterinburg's SIZO-1 pre-trial detention center, he reads a lot, draws comics, and supports other prisoners who also face charges under "terrorism" articles. Maxim holds views similar to anarchism, although he does not want to publicly identify with any political ideology, preferring to describe himself first and foremost as a musician.
