He is turning 29. Alexey is a musician from Novotroitsk in Russia’s Orenburg region. In his youth, he wanted to become a soldier, and after an unsuccessful attempt to enroll in an airborne military school, he voluntarily went to serve his compulsory military service. During that time, his views evolved first toward Marxism, and later he came to identify himself as an anarchist.
In May 2023, Grigoriev was detained by officers of the FSB. According to the investigation, he allegedly was preparing to commit arson attacks on buildings of the FSB and the military enlistment office, having allegedly entered into correspondence with Ukrainian intelligence services. However, this may have been a was a provocation.
On February 7, 2025, the Central District Military Court in Yekaterinburg sentenced Alexey Grigoriev to 20 years in prison on charges of treason and terrorism, allegedly committed as part of a certain group of individuals.
Alexey is a trained musician, played the guitar, and is interested in science and art, as well as learning foreign languages, particularly Polish.
