Demonstrate for Russian political prisoners in Helsinki 6th of May!

In winter and spring of 2011-2012, biggest protest movement since times of the collapse of the Soviet Union gathered tens and thousands of people to streets of Russia. For a while, movement was tolerated by those in power. But 6th of May 2012, a day in prior to inauguration of Vladimir Putin, authorities moved to crush the movement.

In Helsinki 12th of May, Kupoli of Uusi Ylioppilastalo (Mannerheimintie 5 B 7th floor). Food served 3 PM, lecture starts at 4 PM.

Some have paid dearly for fighting against capitalism, racists or environmental destruction. Anarchist Black Cross of Helsinki will tell about situation of anarchist and anti-authoritarian prisoners across the world. During the event, support mail is also written to prisoners.

Visit to memorial of red fighters and victims of concentration camps on Mayday in Helsinki

For those who fought on the red side and perished in repressions after the war. 

Gathering at Pohjoinen Stadionintie 9:00 in the morning

Disturbances lecture series: Muutoksen kevät and radical environmental movement of the 90's

 

In Helsinki 14th of April, Kupoli of Uusi Ylioppilastalo (Mannerheimintie 5 B 7th floor). Food served 3 PM, lecture starts at 4 PM.

Muutoksen kevät (Spring of change) was "eco-revolutionary" paper, published 1996-2003, which managed to unite themes of several movements of the 90's. Former editor in chief of the paper, Ville Lähde will elaborate on the circumstances of the birth of the paper, and social struggles and themes which it introduced to Finnish discussion. Terminal recession - what is it?

The present recession is not an ordinary hiccup in capitalist circulation. A terminal recession results as economic growth hits the limits of cheap energy. The amount of free labour de-grows. Various efforts of adjusting the so-called real economy to the end of growth follow. We have to expect not only uncertainty but also an increase in authoritarian tendencies.

Victorious Quebec student movement - lecture

13th of February 2012 students of Quebec of Canada launched a strike against hike of tuition fee, which was joined by up to 150 000 students. Up to half a million people joined protest marches against emergency law to curb the protest. In beginning of the September, after tuition freeze, the remaining student associations on strike voted to return to class. How was this victory organised, and what may we learn from the Quebec students?

50 demonstrated against Spanish extradiction court of Petr Silaev in Helsinki, Finland

Demonstration started from senate square 6 PM, and visited Finnish ministry of foreign affairs and Spanish embassy at Katajanokka. Demonstrators shouted "Freedom to Pit" and "Refugee status is not meaningless" in Finnish.

Demonstration was organised by Free Pit -network, Freedom of Movement -network, Into publishing house, Free Pussy Riot Helsinki and PAND - artists for peace.

A demonstration against Spanish extradiction court of Petr Silaev in Helsinki

Antti Rautiainen denied Russian visa request

On Thursday, the 14th of June anarchist and member of the Moscow - Autonomous Action, Antti Rautiainen, was denied his Russian visa request. The refusal was not exaplained. 

Rautiainen had a Russian temporary residence permit, but it was annulled at the end of March. According to authorities, he had made "calls to violently overthrow constitutional order or Russian Federation." He was given 15 days to leave the Russian Federation.

Supporters of Moscow anti-fascists made an action at Russian embassy in Helsinki

Today, wednesday of 12th of June, supporters of Moscow anti-fascists made a painting to asphalt in front of Russian embassy in Helsinki, at Vuorimiehenkatu-street. 

Painting has text "freedom to imprisoned anti-fascists", with portraits of two anti-fascist, who are in remand imprisonment in Butyrka prison.
