Welcome to Father Frost against Putin IV Festival in Helsinki

From 7th to 8th of January 2017 fourth Father Frost against Putin-festival will be organised in Helsinki. Exact festival location will be announced later. 

 

 

As in earlier years, various Russian grassroot initiatives will present themselves in festival. You should visit festival, if you are interested on what has happened in Russian anarchist, feminist and queer movements

during year 2016.

 

All festival events will be open to everyone. 

 

Peace to Ukraine, free Russian political prisoners!

Vladimir Putin will visit Finland on friday 1th of July 2016. Conflict in Ukraine is still going on, in year 2016 only more than 600 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed and wounded in ceasefire violations. Both parts of the conflicts have been reluctant to fulfill their responsibilities under Minsk II treaty. Vladimir Putin admitted presence of Russian troops last December, and he is one of the persons directly involved in the continuation of the bloodshed, and bears personal responsibility for human rights violations in occupied Ukrainian territory.

From 9th to 10th of January 2016 third Father Frost against Putin-festival will be organised in Helsinki. This is the first time when festival will last two whole days.

 

This year festival will take place in two places, Oranssi and Kupoli. We will stay in Oranssi 10:30-15:00 on Saturday, other events will take place in Kupoli.

 

Address of Oranssi is Kaasutehtaankatu 1, 11th building in Suvilahti industrial area.

Prisoner support cafe and the backwash of Independenceday

Anarchist black cross of Helsinki arranges prisoner support cafe on 8.12. at Kupoli (Mannerheimintie 5B, 7th floor) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Come and write letters and postcards to our comrades who are in prisons across the globe! In the cafe you can enjoy our all vegan salty and sweet snacks. You're also welcome to discuss individually with ABC members about the 6.12. event and your rights. Solidarity is our weapon!

11:00 — 12:15 Anti-eviction struggles in Milan

 

There are around 4000 flats occupied for housing purposes in Milan. Authorities have threaten to evict 200 of these every months, and as a measure against it, anti-eviction breakfasts have been organised. Demonstrations, marches, neighbourhood and town meetings have been organised on daily basis.

Activist of Moscow Anarchist Black Cross will tell about case of Alexandr Kolchenko, whom FSB kidnapped from Crimea to Moscow.

Demonstration against war in Ukraine in Helsinki

YYA (Ystävyys, Yhteistoiminta ja Avunanto -network) organized 8.9.2014 a demonstration opposing the war in Ukraine. The demonstration opposed Russia's invasion in Ukraine, the war in Ukraine and demanded end to the war crimes.

Out of many human rights violations in the war, the demonstration emphasized the kidnappings of movie director Oleg Sentsov and antifascist Alexander Koltšenko, who were taken to Russia. The demonstrarion didn't support any army or state and opposed every kind of nationalism. About 70 people showed their solidarity by attending the demonstration.

A solidarity action for Bolotnaya prisoners in Helsinki

We went and dropped two banners as a protest against .

A sentence for Bolotnaya case is expected next monday, 24rd of December.

Our action was also in solidarity for all political prisoners.

Freedom for all political prisoners!

Anarchist Black Cross support event in Helsinki - #Freejoel!

31st of January A-ryhmä and Anarchist Black Cross of Helsinki organised a support concert  Helsinki, with Jyrki Nissinen & Isotissinen, Euro Crack, Bunny and Max Peezay from Sweden. 

In end of the event, a support photo was taken for Joel, who is imprisoned in Sweden for defending anti-racist demonstration in Kärrtorp of Stockholm last December.

Baltic Anarchist Winter Meeting 5th of January 2014 in Helsinki

The first Baltic Anarchist Meeting was held in Tallinn, Estonia in May 2012. The meeting was attended by many anarchists from many countries and the atmosphere was good and exciting. Second gathering will be arranged 5.1.2014 in Helsinki, a day after .

Bike Rally for Russian political prisoners 7th of September 2013, Helsinki, Finland

This video is filmed at Bike rally for Russian political prisoners arranged in Helsinki Finland on 7th September. Many of the by-passers cheered when the bike rally passed by. The demonstrators ringed their bells, chanted and played drums. The route started from Kolmen sepän patsas and ended in the Russian embassy in Tehtaankatu, where the demonstrators cycled around the embassy and afterwards listened few speeches of the situation of the political prisoners in Russia. Mainly the demonstration rally went well and with good ambience.

Bicycle rally for Russian political prisoners in Helsinki, Saturday 7th of September 4 PM

We invite everyone who are concerned of political situation in Russia to join us for bicycle rally, which starts from 3 Seppää statue in Mannerheimintie saturday September 7th 4 pm. We will provide flags that you can stick to your bike. But we really appreciate if you bring your own sign or flag for your bike.Same day before the rally we have info about political prisoners in Russia between 13.45-15.45. 

Demonstration in Helsinki for political prisoners in Russia

On anniversary of protests in prior to inauguration of Putin in Moscow, a demonstration for Russian political prisoners was organised in Helsinki by Free Pussy Riot Helsinki and local group of Anarchist Black Cross. From 4 to 6 PM info stall was held in statue of Three Smiths in the very center of the city.

In winter and spring of 2011-2012, biggest protest movement since times of the collapse of the Soviet Union gathered tens and thousands of people to streets of Russia. For a while, movement was tolerated by those in power. But 6th of May 2012, a day in prior to inauguration of Vladimir Putin, authorities moved to crush the movement.
